Militant killed in Pulwama encounter

Militants on Thursday attacked a police party deputed to conduct a search operation in a village in south Kashmir's Pulwama district.

One militant was killed in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district Thursday afternoon during an encounter, reports said.

As per reports Special Operations Group (SOG) cordoned off Asthan Mohalla locality of Kakapora, in Pulwama district on receiving specific inputs about militants hiding in a house.

Sources said that the militants opened fire on noticing the search party in an attempt to escape.

Reinforcements, including army men of Rashtriya Rifles were rushed to area and a militant was killed in the encounter.

Local sources said that there was no fresh firing so far, however the operation was on.
