Hurriyat (G) and Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Sunday called for a state-wide shutdown on Monday against the murderous assault on Kashmiri truckers in Udhampur district of Jammu region.
Earlier, Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Forum (KTMF) had called for a strike against the attack.
Hurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has also supported the strike call issued by the traders' body.
In a statement issued here today, Geelani said that the "Udhampur terrorist attack by the RSS backed goons is an eye opener incident for the pro-Indian people of the state".
"It is also a wake up call for all the peace loving people of Jammu & Kashmir to stand up and act against the communal mentality of the government backed terrorists," the statement quoted Geelani as saying.
He said the attack in which two Kashmiri truckers were set on fire "is an attempt to damage the economic condition of the Kashmir on the pattern of 2008 economic blockade."
JKLF Chief Muhammad Yasin Malik while appealing for a complete shut down called the attack "as terrorism supported by the rulers."
Malik said that this attack has once again proved that PDP-led rulers were actually enemies of Muslims and Kashmiris.
"Kashmiris are not safe even on their land now," Malik said in a statement.
He said that such attacks were not acceptable at all.
"The communal forces led by PDP and BJP are hell bent upon attacking and making lives of kashmiris difficult and kashmiris cannot tolerate all this state sponsored terrorism silently."
He appealed Kashmiri people to stand up against this "state sponsored violence and observe a complete shutdown tomorrow."
