The program chaired by the Hurriyat (M) Chairman was attended by the AAC party workers, leaders and representatives.
Mirwaiz reminded the gathering that on this day (October 10) in year 1965,  when Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Farooq was ‘arrested and subjected to torture for standing up for the rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.’

Mirwaiz said for stifling the voice of the people, troops and paramilitary forces had been empowered with draconian black laws, which abet them to unleash “gruesome atrocities and get away with impunity.”
“The meaning of democracy changes in Kashmir and the way the activities of the resistance leadership are curtailed is a clear message to the international community what was really happening in Kashmir.”
Mirwaiz paid tributes to the Kashmir’s political prisoners serving jails in Kashmir and different hails outside J&K and lauded their resolve, steadfastness and contributions toward the Kashmir cause.

During the programme, a resolution presented by the organisation’s General Secretary, A M Zaki was passed on the ‘Yaum-e-Aseeran and Youm-e-Istiklal’.
